10.7 Ottava rima
Ottava rima is an eight-line stanza of iambic pentameter, rhyming abababcc. As its name suggests, ottava rima is of Italian origin, and it was used by an Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio (1313?-75) in the 14th century. In English, it was Sir Thomas Wyatt (1503?-42) who first used it. Later, Byron used it in almost the same style in his Don Juan and Vission of Judgment.
