C.否定词及具有否定意义的词no/ not/never/few 等+具有否定意义的动词, 半否定词或固定短语，在修辞上采用否定之否定来强调肯定的意思或构成委婉否定， 如：

There is no denying the truth.

We never met him without asking about his parents’ health.我们每次见到他都要问候他父母的身体状况。

  Nobody came here without feeling this place to be as beautiful as a paradise on the earth.凡来此地的人无不感到这里美如天堂。

I couldn’t hardly believe my eyes.我几乎不相信自己的眼睛。

Nobody hardly took notice of him.(Jonathan) 几乎没有一个人注意他。

4)      固定的否定结构

no more than                    

no(not any) more…than…           

not… until

cannot/scarcely/hardly/never…too…意思是“无论怎样。。。也不算过分” (=no…can)

而can not …. enough意思是“无论怎样。。。也不算够”               

It is impossible to (do) …too+adj./adv….(= cannot…too…)

nothing like

next to nothing                     

next to nobody

last                              

can’t help(resist)doing              

   nothing but

too…to do(for sth.)（only /but too…to do除外）

can’t help but do(cannot but do, cannot choose but do)

but for+n/but that+clause(但It is not that…,but that…结构无否定意义)

5)      省略否定

在一些省略回答中。

---Do you like him?   --- No. I don’t.

---Dou you know Prof. Smith?  ---I’m afraid not.

---Dou you think it’s going to rain tomorrow?   --- I hope not.

还有的省略成no。如：

She wanted some coffee, but I said no.(=but I said that I didn’t want any.)

当转折性的并列分句第一分句为肯定句， 第二句为否定句时，将第二句省略成not+主语。 如：

Mary is a bad girl, but not Hellen.(=but Hellen is not a bad girl)
