绝对否定词之所以能构成，正是因为它们所起的作用相当于not加上any或any的合成词(包括ever)。如no=not any, never=not ever, nothing=not anything, nowhere= not anywhere, nither= not…either 等。例句参考文章第一段。

2．绝对否定词除了never以及 no longer no more这几个外，其他均否定静词。

绝对否定词除了never以及 no longer no more这几个可以否定动词外，其他均用来否定名词，代词和副词等静词（相对动词而言）。这种否定方式在形式上否定静词，实际上仍为否定句中谓语动词。 汉语中没有这种否定方式， 所以翻译时多要改成动词否定方式。如：

None of the furniture got wet, fortunately.家具一件也没弄湿，真是走运。

Neither book gives the answer.两本书都没给答案。

Neither he nor I know the secret.我和他都不知道这个秘密。

No-one wished me a happy birthday.没有一个人向我祝贺生日。

I have got no Thursdays free this term.本学期的星期四我都没空。

He is by no means considered a great explorer.他决不能被看作是一个伟大的探险家。

I’m no good at tennis. 我打网球不灵。

You look no older than 35.你看起来过不了35岁。

There’s no smoking in the waiting-room.候诊室不准吸烟。

另外静词否定式要特别注意的一点是，英语中的全部否定，一般必须使用静词否定式， 不能使用动词否定方式。尤其是no的否定语气强于not。而动词否定方式在一定条件下是表示部分否定的。如：

He is not a teacher.他不是老师。

比较：He is no teacher. 他根本算不上老师。

He is not wiser than his brother.他没他哥哥聪明。

比较：He is no wiser than his brother.他也不比他哥聪明哪儿去。

在have, there be 结构中， 情况又有不同。如：

I have no brothers.我没有兄弟。

比较： I have not a brother. 我连一个兄弟也没有。

None of them came in time.他们睡也没按时到。（全部否定）

He chose neither.他两个都没选。（同上）
