The country's only two-legged roller skating robot was on display at the 2005 Shanghai International Youth Science and Technology Expo, which opened at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum yesterday.
Designed by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the human-like roller robot is 45 centimeters high and weighs 3.1 kilograms. It is able to walk and even skate. It can change directions on smooth surfaces such as marble or glass.
Most walking robots still have four legs. Jiao Tong is one of the few institutes in the world to master two-legged walking robot technology.
