Keep Sharks As Pets in Family |
Mr. Liu, a resident of Changchun, the capital of northeast China's Jilin province, keeps two
sharks as his
pets.
Mr. Liu says he spent 15,000 yuan, or 1,800 US dollars, to buy the two sharks, as well as the
tank in which he houses them. Mr. Liu says he spends 2,000 yuan every month on the two sharks. The sharks eat 5 kilos of fish everyday, and there are other expenses, such as
oxygen pumps and
electricity costs. In addition, Mr. Liu spends another 2,000 yuan every year on changing the tank seawater.
An official from the China Wildlife Conservation Association says that sharks aren't
endangered and keeping them is
legal.
