MELBOURNE, Australia (Reuters) - Two men arrested in Australia's biggest terror swoop discussed assassinating the prime minister, killing policemen and even attacking crowds at sports events, a court was told on Friday.
The men, one a Islamic cleric, were part of a group of 18 Muslims arrested in police raids in Melbourne and Sydney in November and charged with being members of a terrorist organization and/or plotting a terrorist attack.
During a bail application in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday, a prosecutor said the group's spiritual leader and a 20-year-old man discussed revenge attacks in Australia, Australian Associated Press (AAP) reported from the court.
The two men were refused bail.
