The second working group meeting between the IOC and BOCOG was held in Beijing Wednesday. IOC staff attending the event include Hein Verbruggen, president of the IOC Co-ordination Commission, and BOCOG Executive Vice Presidents Liu Jingmin, Wang Wei, Jiang Xiaoyu, Li Binghua and Yang Shuan. Officials from Beijing Municipal Government, the State General Administration of Sports, Qingdao and other co-host cities of the Olympic Games were also present at the meeting.
The attendants discussed such topics as venue construction, test games and urban operation. International experts attending the meeting expressed satisfaction over the progress that Beijing has made in preparation for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to date. Liu Jingmin expressed appreciation to the working group and IOC for their support and guidance to BOCOG. Noting that the readjusted construction plan of Beijing Olympic venues has won the endorsement of the IOC. He said the plan will guarantee a valuable heritage to be left over by Beijing Olympic Games.
To date, the location of all competition sites at the 2008 Olympic Games has already been fixed. Implementation of operational plans of the competitions is under way. Cultural activities for the Olympic Games are also in smooth progress, as BOCOG is to unveil the Olympic Mascot soon.
