The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) held the 61st session of its Executive Board here today, chaired by BOCOG President Liu Qi, who is also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Secretary of CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.

The meeting discussed some key issues concerning Beijing's Olympic preparations, including the outline for next year's preparatory work, key graphic designs for the 2008 Olympiad, and arrangement of temporary facilities for the Games.

The meeting held that over the last 11 months, BOCOG had made tremendous success in the Olympic preparations and had completed a number of important undertakings on schedule. The release of the Beijing Olympic Theme Slogan and Mascots, in particular, had been warmly received in the vast community, facilitating the dissemination of the Chinese civilizations and the creation of rich Olympic atmosphere.

In 2006, BOCOG will shift its work focus, organizational mechanism, and operational mode towards the situation in the Games period, as 2006 is the key year which plays an important role in laying a good foundation for the Games' organization and operation. BOCOG will enhance the preparatory work in terms of implementation, coordination, and integral harmonization.
