FRANKFURT, Germany - Another 250,000 tickets for the World Cup finals went on sale Monday, and organizers said 30,000 orders were placed within an hour.
A third batch of tickets went on sale after Friday's draw determined the eight groups for the 32-nation tournament from June 9 to July 9. It was the first time fans could order tickets knowing the schedule of soccer's showcase event.
The deadline for the latest orders is Jan. 15. The lottery to determine who gets the tickets will be held Jan. 31.
Organizing committee spokesman Jens Grittner said 90 percent of tickets requests by Monday afternoon came form Europe, the majority outside Germany.
