l        SUMMARY 

The 7^th Western China International Educational Exhibition (IEE) in Western China 2006, which is sponsored by Sichuan Branch of China Council For The Promotion of International Sichuan Sub-council and the People’s Government of Sichuan Province, will be held in Chengdu China during May 25 to 28 in 2005.

IEE has fulfilled five exhibitions in the last five years, and become a window for Sichuan’s students to know the colleges and universities overseas. Besides, EIEC has also contributed to connecting students and educational organizations, including colleges, universities home and abroad. Now, it has turned into a grand meeting for international education not only in Sichuan, but the whole Western China.

In addition, IEE has devoted herself to developing a norm mature market for studying abroad. Then it is regarded as a weatherglass of the orientation of market of studying abroad.

A great many countries, such as Australia, Canada, UK, USA, New Zealand, Holland, Russia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Switzerland, Korea and Thailand, will participate in this exhibition.

l        GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Sichuan Branch Founded in 1979, CCPIT has been a special government agency dedicated for promoting communication and connection between Sichuan Province and the world outside China. CCPIT has deep understanding of educational market in western China, and hosted 5 international education shows in series.

l        Audience

The sizes of audience in all the six exhibition have basically exceeded the exhibitors’ expectation. Exhibitors were mostly satisfied with the turn-out in respects of quantity and quality of the audience. The size of audience was around  80,000 in total.

Below is the statistical information on the level of study the audience looked for:

Destination of study was also the question we asked the audience. Statistical information about the destination of study is as follows:

A Survey of Sichuan

Sichuan is a huge province in west China, the great Sichuan covers 485,000 sq. kilometers, it have 21 cities, 181 counties, and a population of more than 87 million.

Sichuan is an education province. It has 52, 700 schools, 18 million students in schools, 842,600 faculties.

Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province. It's one of the financial, cultural and educational centers in the western China. The great Chengdu covers 123,900 sq. kilometers, and a population of more than 12 million.

There are more than 63 universities and colleges, 415,000 students in schools.

There are more than 1148 primary schools and middle schools, 1,421,000 students in schools. The rate of entering primary school was 99.9%, middle school rate of entering a higher school was 83%, high education rate of entering a higher school was 37.5%. There are 1760 infant schools, about 257,000 children in schools.
