Every dog has his day。

Every dog has his day。Every dog has his day这个俗语的意思是:每个人总会有实现自己愿望的一天。 Okay, so this publisher sent back your manuscript. There are plenty of other publishers. You'll find one who'll buy it--remember, every dog has his day!

This six-inch-wide (15-centimeter-wide) chunk of fresco from the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi is one of the largest pieces recovered after a severe earthquake struck the area on September 26, 1997. Natural disasters, modern hazards, and decay threaten Italy's heritage while citizens and scientists struggle to preserve it.

In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired to build a spectacular bridge connecting New York with Long Island. However bridge-building experts throughout the world thought that this was an impossible feat and told Roebling to forget the idea.

Roebling could not ignore the vision he had in his mind of this bridge. After much discussion, he managed to convince his son Washington, an up-and-coming engineer, that the bridge in fact could be built.

Working together for the first time, the father and son developed concepts of how it could be accomplished and how the obstacles could be overcome. They hired their crew and began to build their dream bridge.

The project started well, but when it was only a few months underway a tragic accident on the site took the life of John Roebling. Washington was injured, unable to walk or talk or even move.

Everyone had negative comments and felt that the project should be scrapped since the Roeblings were the only ones who knew how the bridge could be built.

In spite of his handicap Washington was never discouraged and still had a burning desire to complete the bridge and his mind was still as sharp as ever.

He tried to inspire and pass on his enthusiasm to some of his friends, but they were too daunted by the task.

As he lay on his bed in his hospital room, with the sunlight streaming through the windows, a gentle breeze blew the flimsy white curtains apart and he was able to see the sky and the tops of the trees outside for just a moment.

It seemed that there was a message for him not to give up. Suddenly an idea hit him. All he could do was move one finger and he decided to make the best use of it. By moving this, he slowly developed a code of communication with his wife. He touched his wife's arm with that finger, indicating to her that he wanted her to call the engineers again. Then he used the same method of tapping her arm to tell the engineers what to do.

For 13 years Washington tapped out his instructions with his finger on his wife's arm, until the bridge was finally completed. Today the spectacular Brooklyn Bridge stands in all its glory as a tribute to the triumph of one man's indomitable spirit and his determination not to be defeated by circumstances.

Dance with my father

My father would lift me high
And dance with my mother me then
Spin me around till I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me

And I knew for sure I was loved
If I could get another chance
Another walk
Another dance with him.
I'd play a song that would never, ever end
How I love, love, love
To dance with my father again When I and my mother would disagree
To get my way I would run from her to him
He'd make me laugh just to comfort me
Then finally make me do just what my mama said
Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet

Never dreamed that he would be gone from me
If I could steal one final glance

One final dance with him
I'd play a song that would never, ever end
Cause I love, love, love
To dance with my father again

Sometimes I'd listen outside her door
And I'd hear how my mother cried for him
I pray for her even more than me
I pray for her even more than me I know I'm praying so much too much
But could you send back the only man she loved
I know u don't do it usually
But dear lord she's dying
To dance with my father again

Every night I fall asleep this is all I ever dream

《Dance With My Father》出自他生前最后一张专辑,那特有的华丽厚实的嗓音,唱出了来自下层民间的平和简朴,唱出我们最普通不过、最世俗不过的生活,惟其真切所以感人,惟其诚实所以动听。
