“交通堵塞”怎么说?
来源:新时代英语  日期:2006年05月29日 11:26:24  阅读 次  作者:吴雷

Traffic, traffic accidents And Related Idioms (3)

Slow-moving traffic and too many cars on the road cause these traffic situations, expressed as nouns:

A traffic jam

A traffic snarl

Bumper-to-bumper traffic

The expressions to tie up traffic and to hold up traffic mean to cause traffic to be slow or stopped, as shown in these examples:

------ Road construction has (tied up / held up / snarled) traffic all week.

------ Traffic was held up because of an accident.
